Africville Waterfront Marina Project

Project Summary

Our team were thrilled to have been engaged by the Africville Heritage Trust to provide destination development context and a supporting business case to underline not only the opportunity to develop a marina at the Africville but the strategic value of the location as an important link in an emerging provincial marine destination network.

From a strategic perspective, developing a marina on the Africville Waterfront is an opportunity to meet demand for recreational boat accommodation and leverage investments made to strengthen the value proposition of Halifax Harbour as a recreation destination for locals and visitors. More importantly, this project is but one element of a broader opportunity to reconnect and build on the community of Africville’s relationship with the water, a source of connection, reflection and inspiration for us all.

Africville has a saying, “the spirit lives on.” Shaping a destination that embraces this unwavering spirit is an ambition that we were thrilled to have been invited to be a part of.

Our team carefully considered the Africville infill site and provided a concept that utilizes the space most effectively to shape a vibrant destination, attracting locals and visitors, by land and water.
